CRM — organisations, contacts, deals

Four tabs: Organizations, Contacts, Pipeline, Products.

Organisations

Every company you deal with: customers, partners, suppliers. The Type field says which, and a company can be more than one thing over time — you change the type, you do not create a second row.

The name is what identifies it. Creating one that already exists promotes the existing row instead of making a twin, which is also why the ERP's customers and these organisations are the same companies — see the apps and how they fit together.

Click a row for the record: the details, the registered address, and the contacts that belong to it.

Contacts

People at those organisations. A contact belongs to an organisation, and the organisation's record lists its people — so you can walk in from either side.

Pipeline

The deals currently in play, as a board: one lane per stage. Drag a card to another lane and the stage is saved; the same list can be shown as a plain table when you would rather read it than look at it.

Click a deal for its record — value, stage, the organisation it belongs to, what was agreed.

Products

What you sell, so a deal can point at something specific rather than a number typed from memory.

Doing it by asking

All of this is faster through the agent when you know what you want:

  • "Add Northwind Ltd as a customer with Carol Schmidt as the contact, carol@northwind.test"
  • "Move the Northwind deal to negotiation and set the value to 24,000"
  • "Which deals have not moved in three weeks?"

Writing asks first where it should — see when the agent asks first.
